Week 3 Homework: Representation & Stereotypes of Teenagers DUE FRIDAY 2nd October

Use Prezi to present a minimum of 12 screen grabs of how Youth are represented in the Skins Trailer. Also ensure you embed the clips and give examples of Teen Stereotypes.

Make sure you cover the following:

• How camera, editing & sound create 'meaning' associations with youth

Introduction:Discuss who this is aimed at (what audience age, gender)

1. Discuss the different stereotypes of Teenagers (from class notes):

2. Apply these stereotypes to the clip and explain why TV Dramas use them (Merit class notes)

a. Identify each of the characters by their stereotype

b. Discuss their behaviour and appearance (refer to each element of M-E-S (location, costume, props, character/actor, colours)

c. (Merit) Discuss why they are represented as stereotypes to attract the audience


3. (Merit) Discuss the use of Camerawork (shot types, angles, blocking, lighting and movement) - how does this create meaning?


4. (Distinction) Editing (pace of the cuts, transitions, how it relates to the music, special effects)


5. (Distinction) Sound (choice of soundtrack, how it works with the editing, sound effects)
