Unit 9.3: Carry out editing - ROAK grade improvements

9c
Carry out edit RAOK
9C.P7:

·         You have edited a moving image production to an adequate standard so the purpose is apparent but
·         the external editing (the sequence and story) dominates internal editing (trimming, careful cutting, continuity, pace)
·         There are many ‘one shot’ scenes and
·         not a lot of variation of editing techniques used;
·         the editing style is appropriate for the intended format, (short cuts on the beat, 1 minute duration, cross dissolves or transitions to show time passing).You have completion of a single camera short film production which shows some application of techniques to produce a coherent narrative. The cinematography relies on overlong sequences with little shot variation to tell the story. Editing techniques are basic and rely on cuts which do not create continuity or pace or create tension. There is little experimentation with camera camera angles. Lighting uses only natural light and doesn't generate generic mood or meaning. 9C.M6:

·         You have edited a moving image production to a competent standard so that the purpose is easy to interpret and
·         the external editing (story, message) has equal competency with internal editing (trimming, careful cutting, continuity, pace).
·         There is some variation in the use of editing techniques and
·         the editing style is appropriate to the intended format (seamless continuity and match on actions, short cuts to the beat)
9C.D4
·         You have edited a moving image production imaginatively so the editing adds meaning to the production (fast paced or beat editing appeals to youth, movement across shots shows the idea of passing it on).
·         The internal editing (trimming, careful cutting, continuity, pace, special effects) has care and precision
·         there is variation in the use of editing techniques, which makes the production engaging and creative so that the internal cuts match the beat
·         and/or the continuity is seamless to aid the narrative
·         and/or imaginative alternative techniques (such as fast forward or jump cuts for special effects)
